Jacqueline's log of SCEPTrE work

Official Roehampton University Staff page

Work based learning is popular with students.  They enjoy the challenges they face when putting the knowledge they have gained at university into practice, and value the new skills they learn while on placement.  Students appreciate the opportunity to gain valuable life skills and they perceive placements as enhancing their future employability.  Yet few programmes offer Service Learning Placement modules.  The aim of my project is to make it easier for programmes to include such modules in future.  I aim to complete a database of all placement opportunities available within the university, before exploring further placement opportunities in the local community and beyond.  I shall also create a work-based learning module template and other documentation (placement agreements, assessment etc.) which will be available to all programmes.  Finally, I hope through networking with other SCEPTrE Fellows to develop a pilot placement project which will link students from different universities to widen the potential scope of university work-based learning opportunities.

Dear Jacqueline,

according to your updates, you seem to have been busy already with your project! I am looking forward to hearing more about it! I will meet you soon in London at the "Employability in the Humanities" workshop, where I am also presenting with a colleague.

All the best for now
Doris

Great participation at the Fair, Jacqueline - many thanks for that. And thanks for the interview, too. Hope you'll get a chance to see it on the wiki.
Keep the connections going!
