Embedding Professional Development in Management degrees:

My Fellowship project involves developing and enhancing the support given to students on their journey towards becoming: ‘... professional, self-reliant, adaptable, creative and ethically-aware individuals’(Unversity of Surrey Graduate Skills statement). My aim is to help students become more self-directed in their personal and professional development whilst engaging in an undergraduate degree programme and both preparing for and undertaking a professional training placement after they have completed level 2.

There is a widespread belief that students need a supportive mechanism that not only helps them identify and make use of the good practice, processes and activities that currently exist within undergraduate provision, but also guides them in a manner that enables individual, self-directed development towards critical and creative enquiry. During my Fellowship I have collaborated with other Fellows, particularly Anne Irving. You can contact me at l.blair@surrey.ac.uk
