My Fellowship enabled me to develop new approaches to fostering enquiry in my modules and adapt and introduce the peer instruction methods developed by Professor Eric Mazur in the Physics Department at Harvard University. I piloted a range of innovative technologies using a voting system, webscasts and podcasts - and implemented a practical simulator to engage students in their own learning. My Fellowship supported an exciting study visit to Harvard where I worked with Professor Eric Mazur’s internationally known Mazur Education Group. As a result of this relationship I arranged for Eric to visit Surrey and provide the keynote presentation and workshop at the University's 2008 Annual Learning and Teaching Conference. This shows how Fellowship can lead to the development of relationships which have wider benefits to the university.
